My questions...your answers
Me: cable - only because my husband pays for it and we don't have a land line. I personally would save the money and go to the library.

How about you?

I have dial-up, but my modem is terrible. The driver keeps on having a problem. It keeps asking me if I want to send a report, and I'm like, "The modem just died, where do you want to send it?"

It's a 56K US Robotics faxmodem, if anyone knows how to fix it.

I have cable and I think it is wonderful. We had dial up in Maryland and it was soooo super slow. At our library you can't check email so that wouldn't work. I do write off a portion of my bill on my businesses.

I had one of those about 10 years ago. It's hard to even think about going back to dial-up after cable. Plus, for me it would cost $35 per month for the phone line. It would hardly be worth it.

I have high speed wireless, it is a radio signal that bounces of an antenna here where I live then fired to the mainframe 23 miles away, I upload and download at 10 Mb per second, cost is 49 even a month.

Well, I've been told by many people (techs and stuff) that we have a 56k connection. But I am going thru cable. So I am not 100% sure. Download and upload speeds suck (at times) and the routher/firewalls don't help it anyway .

5 mbs cable w/ telephone (no long dist charges within continental US), Digital CATV w/HDTV all for $150/month tax included. My Bellsouth bill ALONE used to be at least $85/month

I've gotta a genuine MS-Dos 2400 baud Hayes AT modem and all I gotta do is type beam me up Scotty at the C:> prompt. Works great. Faster than I can type barely.

SBCYahoo DSL,
Your Throughput Download = 1.270 Mbps
Upload = 329.27 kbps if the line was direct to our apt instead of into a main box for 70 apts I would get 1.5..Phone line costs $30.00, DSL costs $19.95 monthly.... Also with a single line could get 6.0 speed for $35.00 monthly....which I would gladly pay for...The best Cox Cable can give us is 4.0 for $52.00 monthly..........

Darn, I now have wireless envy. 10Mb for $49? I pay $45 for 375KB/s down and 115KB/s up on cable. A good site in the US to check your speed is Link. They also have a strong section that rates most of the providers. It's too bad there isn't more real competition in most of the country.
