My questions...your answers
Cain's sister and bride?

Non-believers need not post.

First, I want to let everyone know that this is not a debate. Anyone who argues with another poster will find their post deleted.

Who did Cain marry? If Adam and Eve populated to world then did Cain marry his sister? At what point did it become bad to marry a sister? Why? (Note: I'm not condoning incest)

I'm posting this question in an effort to learn. As such, your answer with supporting explanation/evidence would be most helpful to me. References to documents and/or the Bible would be helpful along with citations (this will give me more sources to explore).

If your answer is simply what you believe, please feel free to state that too.

But please, please, please, no arguments. If there are I may be compelled to delete the entire article thereby losing any learning value that it might have for me.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

I really have no idea. Maybe girls just fell from the sky. The only other child of Adam mentioned is Seth...and he was another son.

He married his sister. The prohibition against it didn't take place until Moses.

Genesis plainly says that Adam had other sons and daughters....5:4.

As far as incest? Two things can be said. The human race was propagated from a single pair. This was unavoidable. Also the notion of incest must be probed more closely. At first incest was connected with sexual relationships between parents and children. Only later was the notion of incest extended to sibling relationships.

Moses gave laws governing all forms of incest but this was later down the road. You can research this....Lev 18:7-17, 20:11-12,14,17, 20-21; Deut 22:30, 27:20, 22,23.

We know that Abraham married his half sister, Gen 20:12. So this was not unknown during those times. Moses own father Amram married an aunt, his father's sister Jochebed Ex 6:20. In Egypt the routine marriage of brothers and sisters among the Pharaohs all the way up to the second century made the Mosaic law all the more a radical break from their own past with Egypt.

Genetically reasons for forbidding incest were not always an issue. Back then inbreeding was without serious or genetic damage. Today, the risk is extremely high.

If you are going to take evidence, any evidence, from bible texts, then you are misinformed. Historical evidence, grounded on fact, I accept, but the bible itself has been shown to be conjecture and the re-telling of tales through thousands of years is skewed and not real evidence of individuals in the past. I cannot, and forgive me for my cynicism, accept the bible as being of true historical evidence. The NT has more to give because archaologists are still going through the evidence of Jesus' existence, his impact and his death.

There is plenty of historical evidence of the OT Adnauseam. Since this thread isn't asking for that I'll refrain.

I would venture to say there is as much OT evidence in archeology as there is for NT surrounding places, dates and people of the bible. Check with your local archeologist on this.....
